  The article "Darkness Too Visible" by Megan Cox Gurdon wants the reader to know why young adult books aren't appropriate for kids. She thinks young adult books aren't appropriate for kids of 12-18. Because  it has darkness,kidnapping,pederasty,self-harm, and etc.

According to the article, the author says "This is an dialectic purity vs. despoliation,virtue vs. smut but for families with teenagers,it is also everlastingly new" The author used this to make the readers think about how long the debate of effects of young readers reading young adult books. Another example, is some kids will be reading a young adult book and they would get dark images in there heads. What the author is trying to say is some kids will be thinking about all the things they read in young adult books and for parents they don't want them to know about that in their age yet.
