Romeo and Juliet

Selina Berrezueta 809

In the play "Romeo and Juliet" are these two teens that fall in love in first sight . Romeo has been really upset about a girl that he loved ,but then he meets Juliet and he forgets all about Rosaline. I think that Romeo's words suggest between with true love and rash behavior.

In the the play "Romeo and Juliet" Romeo is upset about Rosaline. For example, in the play with his at the party where he meets Juliet . Romeo was at the party still upset about the situation about Rosaline ,but when he sees Juliet he forgot all about Rosaline. Another thing is he just met Juliet and he really doesn't no nothing about Juliet . Romeo probably just wanted to forget all about Rosaline and be with someone elsa not ,because of true love . B

In the play "Romeo and Juliet" in the other hand Romeos love for Juliet was true love. For example , in the end of the play when he thinks that Juliet had died he kills himself just for her . He doesn't see himself without Juliet, so he died just that not to be alone without her . Another thing is when he found out that Juliet was a capulet he didn't care . He stayed with Juliet , because he love her they she was no matter what .

In the play "Romeo and Juliet" Romeo's love for Juliet was between true love and rash behavior. It was bother because he loved her the way she was. But maybe only loved her because of him being alone .

Cut by Patricia McCormick

The book "Cut" by Patricia McCormick the main character Callie is suicidal. She is suicidal for some other reasons ,but there are some reasons is because of other characters. The characters that impact main character is her dad and her two friends. Callie doesn't speak up for herself . She is scared her friends will leave her and her dad would leave her forever .

Callie gets impacted by her 2 friends Debbie and Sydney. They impact her by including her in their problems even tough she really didn't do anything . In the book the two friends fight with each other and they bring Callie in the problem . Callie really doesn't know what to do ,but just stay quite and not say how she feels. Callie really doesn't say anything ,because she is afraid they will hate her and not be friends with her. Instead of saying anything she just "solves" the problem by cutting herself.

The second character that impacts Callie is her dad. Her dad impacts her by not being around when she needs him. In the book Callie lives only with her mom and her mom has to work for the whole day. She really doesn't have anyone to tell her problems. Her dad sometimes goes visits her ,but just for a couple of minutes and leaves.

The story "Cut" is a big impact story and the book brings out a lot of messages. The main character Callie she really sends out a message. When her friends fight they bring into the problem . Callie doesn't stand up for herself, but the way she "fixes the problem" is by cutting herself. This message is saying is don't stay quiet and speak up, because you don't wanna he hurting yourself  or make the problem worse. Just speak up and you'll fix the problem or just not be friends with the person who's hurting you .

Is It Time To Raise The Minimum Wage?

In the article, "Is it time raise to the minimum wage?" It's about workers are wanting to make the minimum wage increase instead $7.25 dollars. Then President Obama is planing to bring it up to $10.10 an hour. In the other hand other people say no they shouldn't raise up the minimum wage. They don't want to rise it up ,because they think $7.25 is good enough for a family .

The author I don't think doesn't have a side ,because it talks about how Kirsten Gillibrand wants the minimum wage to raise up .Then how John Boehner doesn't want the minimum wage to raise up. In the article Kirsten Gillibrand says $7.25 isn't enough ,because with that money you don't have enough for their needs like food, home, clothing, and etc. A family of 3 earns less than $19,790 per year and living in poverty. But if they do raise up the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour families would have billions of dollars in the pocket each year .

In the other said John Boehner thinks that they shouldn't increase the minimum wage. He thinks this ,because it will hurt very people that it's suppose to help. He said when he was younger he had every job and he had 11 bothers ,but he said that everything was fine with the money for his family. He thinks that if they do raise up the minimum wage there will be less jobs with a higher payments. Also his opinion is to not only focus on jobs but focus on fixing the taxes.

In response to what I read is that yes, they should raise up the minimum wage. I think this ,because there is some families that have more then 5 members and they don't earn enough money for themselves. This makes me think about why some people don't want Obama to raise it up? I mean there might be reasons why ,but they might earn more money and don't know how it feels like.

Selina Berrezueta 809

             All The Broken Pieces

In the book "All the Broken Pieces" by Ann E Burg is about a kid name Matt who is a adopted kid. He has a family with he adopted parents and his brother.  He is in a baseball team and all his team mates bully him. His only friend is his baseball coach, but then he get cancer. I will talk about his problems during the story like he getting bullied and about his adopted parents.

In the book "All the Broken Pieces" Matt gets bullied by his baseball team. For example, his baseball team bullies him because of his raise. They think Asians can't play baseball. His baseball coach helps him and says don't listen to them and to be himself.

In the book "All the Broken Pieces" Matt has a adopted family and then he starts thinking more deeply about it. For example, he starts thinking why his adopted parents adopted him. He thinks this ,because since he they have There own son then why did they adopted him. He started thinking why did his real parents left him.

In this essay I have talked about how Matt gets bullied and what he starts thinking about why his adopted parents adopted him

The story "Sold" by Patricia McCormick it's about a girl named Lakshim that is 13 years old and live in India. She wants to work for her parents can have a better life. But her mom wants her to stay at school. Then her dad sold her to Mumtaz and Lakshim is trapped there till she pays off her family dept. By the end of they story Lakshim learns that risks can come out with a good outcome, but sometimes some don't.

The story "Sold" when you take risks you can get good outcomes or good outcomes, but sometimes both. For example, in the story when Lakshim told her mom that she wanted to work instead going to school her dad found out a way to get money. She found out that she was getting sold to a women. When she got sold to the women named Mumtaz she got abused from her with a wipe. Also she couldn't get out of the room not even for fresh air. Lakshim got what she wanted ,but at the end she  got a bad outcome.

The story "Sold" when you take risks you can get good outcomes or good outcomes, but sometimes both. For example, when Lakshim was locked in a room she new when the weather changed by looking outside. Then one day Mumtaz told Lakshim that she had to pay if she wanted to free. She told her she could work outside but never run away because if she did she'll find her. Lakshim was surprised, but really emotional because she was finally gonna get her freedom back. Lakshim knew that making risk can sometimes be bad in the beginning but in the end it can be good.

Some risks you can get good outcomes or good outcomes, but sometimes both. This is important to know, because you have to make risks sometimes. This can make a connection to anyone, because in school you have to make risks all the time to get better grads and a better education.

In the article "Fast Food's Dark Side" it talked about what a burger has in it and how people think about it.

What this means he doesn't like how young adult books are allowed for kids to read.

The article "Darkness Too Visible" by Megan Cox Gurdon wants the reader to know why young adult books aren't appropriate for kids.
